UK imposes sanctions on 29 Russians, on oil, gold firms
MOSCOW, Nov 8 (PRIME) -- The British government has imposed sanctions on 29 Russian and foreign individuals and companies that operate in or support Russia’s gold, oil, and strategic industries, the government said in a statement on Wednesday.
“29 individuals and entities operating in and supporting Russia’s gold and oil sectors have been sanctioned by the UK today. New listings include both Russian oligarchs and businesses, and third country enablers fuelling Russia’s war revenues,” the statement read.
The list of sanctioned entities include gold producer Highland Gold Mining Limited, Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company, Russian National Reinsurance Company, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, precious metals producer Krastsvetmet, LLC Technological Company Fly Bridge, Paloma Precious DMCC, and Paramount Energy & Commodities DMCC.
The U.K. also blacklisted gold producer Nordgold PLC, formerly controlled by tycoon Alexei Mordashov, and his wife Marina Mordashova, who currently controls the gold producer.
The list of sanctioned individuals includes oligarchs Vladislav Sviblov and Konstantin Strukov, and Yury Chikhanchin, director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service.
